Trail Trials
A Fun, Family, All-Breed Equestrian Event
Trail Trial Rules | Entry/Release Form
You do not need to be a member of the LVAHA or any other equine association to participate in this open all breed-event.
When: Sunday, May 2nd, 2010
Check In: 7:30 a.m.
Start: 9:00 a.m. (Riders at 15 minute intervals)
Where: Las Vegas, NV - Floyd Lamb State Park (Group Area 5 and surrounding open land areas)
What: Unlike endurance riding, which goes for speed and distance, or competitive trail rides which compete for stamina, a Trail Trials Event consists of several different ‘natural’ obstacles for the horse and rider to negotiate in a safe and relaxed manner out on the
trail. Judges, sometimes ‘hidden,’ score the horse and the rider as they complete the pre-set course. Scoring is based on the ability to complete the 'obstacle', and for calmness. Safety is emphasized at all points.
- Affordable Entry Fees:
$40 Adults (18 & over)
$25 Children (17 & under)
$20 To "Audit" the Ride - No Awards
- A percentage of the proceeds will go to Shiloh Horse Rescue www.shilohhorserescue.com. Donations of used tack and equestrian supplies/equipment for Shiloh are also welcome. All donations will receive a tax deduction receipt.
- Entry Forms to be posted soon.
- Obstacles are logs to walk over, a gate to open, a stream or bridge to cross, a
tree to back around, or any number of other natural and/or semi-natural
obstacles, all out on a trail environment
- Not a timed event, but each obstacle has a time limit so other riders don’t get
held up too long
- Ride together in small groups or as a single rider
- Riders of all ages and abilities
- Spectators welcome
- Horses of all breeds, levels, disciplines
- Ride will be approximately 1-2 hours long, and will cover approximately 2 1/2
miles
- Award/Prize Categories (with placings in each category):
Riders: 17 & under
Riders: 18 to 49
Riders: 50 & over
